On Sunday 26th April, Matt Pearson from National Accounts Service based in our Alfreton depot took on the challenge of running 26.2 miles and completed the London Marathon, a phenomenal achievement!
Matt decided to run the marathon to support a cause which is close to his heart, Leonard Cheshire.
Here’s Matt’s message, and if you’d like to add to his donations for a very worthy cause, you can do so here.
“Many will become disabled after an accident, or from a stroke, cancer or developing conditions like multiple sclerosis or motor neurone disease. These life-changing circumstances can stop people in their tracks.
That’s why I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for Leonard Cheshire.
Leonard Cheshire supports disabled people across the UK and around the world, helping them regain independence, confidence, and choice at a time when life can feel suddenly limited. Their work breaks down barriers to education, employment, and daily living—focusing not on what people can’t do, but on what’s possible with the right support.
Running a marathon is a huge personal challenge for me, but it’s nothing compared to the obstacles many disabled people face every single day, often simply because society isn’t built to include them. By taking on 26.2 miles, I’m raising funds and awareness to help Leonard Cheshire continue delivering life-changing services, from accessible housing and community support to campaigning for a more inclusive world.
Every mile I run is for independence, dignity, and opportunity—and for ensuring that when life changes in an instant, no one has to face it alone. Thank you for supporting my journey and helping Leonard Cheshire make independence possible.”
