Craig Robson of our Derby Transit Centre has been taking part in a challenge to help raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in the UK.
The campaign encourages people to set their own personal challenge to get to 5KM every day during the month of October and raise funds for the charity. This can be running, walking, a treadmill or anything which takes participants out of their comfort zone. Being a keen runner craig has embraced the challenge by pounding the pavements every morning during October before work and getting in at least 5km of running.
Craig said;
‘’I set myself a small target to raise £150 which I thought was optimistic; I really didn’t think anyone would be interested! I’m not one for rattling the donation can in front of people, but amazingly within 24 hours of setting up the Facebook donation page I had smashed through the target, with even more pledges from people who aren’t on Facebook. Not only this, the support and conversations I’ve had from the staff have been truly amazing’’.
The CALM Charity (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is a charity which takes a stand against suicide, by offering life saving services such as a helpline and support.
