Alan Strickland, Parts Advisor from the Huntingdon site, and his daughter Lana are set to take on the World!
They have both qualified and been selected to represent Team England at the WMAC World Championships in Kickboxing which are being held in Austria this September.
Last year Lana represented Team England and podiumed in 6 of the 7 categories she entered. Claiming herself Two World Titles in the process – one of which was in the Elite category that you can only compete in by invitation.
This year she convinced Dad, Alan, to get back on the mats after 35 years since he last competed. In March they both competed at the WMAC English Open where they both claimed Gold and secured their place on Team England.
They have since had similar success at other competitions around the country and are now looking forward to heading out to Austria to proudly represent their country.
As you can imagine, this comes with significant costs: travel, accommodation, category entries, Team England fight kit, and so on. Leading up to the event also incurs additional costs including – but not limited to – squad training sessions, 1-to-1 training, and fuel to get around the country most weekends.
If anyone would like to support them by means of a donation (no matter how small) or would simply like to follow their progress, you can do so on the GoFundMe page here:
