After three stints at T C Harrison JCB and a total of almost 26 years, Robin Kemp (Sedgefield Depot) has decided to hang up his overalls and his overcoat. Robin has decided to retire and whilst he officially will be retiring on 31st December 2021, his last working day will be Thursday 23rd December.  After a week’s work experience he joined the business as an Apprentice Engineer in 1976 before undertaking the role of Service Engineer and latterly (for the last 5 years) Warranty Administrator. Over the years he has left us twice but could never keep away for long and after re-joining TCH JCB again in 2002,  decided that this is where his heart lay. I am sure everyone will join me in thanking Robin for all his years-service, his hardwork and commitment and all the very best wishes for the future.
With warranty being such an important factor in the business, it is imperative that we replace Robin as soon as possible and with the experience and knowledge needed to navigate JCB’s strict regime. Malcolm Ward has been with the business for over 44 years. Again undertaking a multitude of roles, leading to him taking responsibility for Sedgefield Depot in 1998.  Malcolm’s strength has always been on the Service side of the business and with the sad departure of Janet Arnell (earlier this week) Malcolm believes his experience in building and mentoring the next generation of the Service Team will be invaluable for the future. To give him the opportunity to do this effectively and to ensure the ongoing continuity of warranty, Malcolm has decided that he would like to step back from his role as Depot Manager and move to a new role Warranty & Operations Supervisor from 1st January – continuing to report to Wendy Asquith. As part of his new role Malcolm will retain responsibility for the site and health and safety matters.
This year Stuart Smith has on occasions taken on a supportive role within the service department – during periods of sickness and absenteeism. This has given Stuart a great insight into the Service Operations and together with his participation on the JCB Development Training Program (Lighthouse) he is now ready to undertake a more prominent role in the Service Department. I am pleased to announce that Stuart will become Service Supervisor from 1st January reporting directly to Wendy Asquith. Stuart will be recruiting an additional Service Administrator to assist him in the new year.
Please join me in wishing Malcolm and Stuart all the best in their new roles and success in the future.
Regards & thanks
